The MK Investors Group was formed in 2015 by local entrepreneur, Alexander Boswell as part of a programme to encourage start-up business hubs in the area.
The Group’s aim is to meet the need for MK-based business investment by flowing capital into local start-ups and SMEs. The success of the Group is assisting the economic development and growth in the area.
Group members use their mentoring and advisory experience to nurture young entrepreneurs and their start-up businesses.
The establishment of the Group has been greeted with much enthusiasm by the local universities: Cranfield, Buckingham and The Open University. All have thriving schools of entrepreneurship and MKIG is developing ever closer ties with them.

MK Investors Group was founded in 2015 as part of his programme to facilitate the creation of business hubs in Milton Keynes. Having discerned the need, his Group has directly helped over 20 aspiring local enterprises to grow and succeed.
There are no specific requirements for membership of the Group. It is a strength of the Group that membership is diverse, including private investors, CEOs, fund managers, financial advisers, lawyers, accountants, bankers......and, of course, aspiring entrepreneurs.
All come together to share an interest and enthusiasm for business. There is currently no charge to be a member of the Group.
Meetings occur quarterly and the dates are circulated via the email distribution list. They are usually held at the offices of EMW Law in Knowlhill, Milton Keynes starting at 5.30pm and finishing by 7.30pm.
The format is similar to Dragon’s Den. Entrepreneurs pitch their concept to the assembled audience of ‘Dragons’ who then have a chance to ask them questions. The number of presentations per evening varies. Sometimes only two companies, sometimes three, occasionally four. Wine and nibbles are available both before and after the presentations. The objective is to create an informal and friendly atmosphere where investors and entrepreneurs can chat and exchange ideas.
The pitches are usually preceded by a talk on aspects of investing by local accountants RSM.
Investors: MK needs you!
We urgently need more members who are willing and able to invest in the MK business scene. If you are interested to attend a meeting please get in touch.
Similarly, please recommend us or put us in touch with anyone else who might be a potential investor. Remember, there are great tax breaks for start-up equity investment. A carefully picked selection of SEIS and EIS enterprises should be part of everyone’s long term financial portfolio.
